More than 80 companies exhibited and sponsored the event. Exhibitors include Gazprom Neft JSC, JSC Tatneft, Baker Hughes, Halliburton, Roxar, Schlumberger, Weatherford and others. Sponsors include Rosneft and Schlumberger (Platinum sponsors), Baker Hughes and Roxar (Gold sponsors), Chevron and Weatherford (sponsors).

Over 530 delegates and 250 students attended the 2014 Conference titled ‘Sustaining and Optimising Production, Challenging the Limits with Technology’, a topic selected by the Conference Committee as one of the most important challenges Russia and other producing countries now face. The 140+ technical papers covered topics including New Approaches and Technologies for Sustaining Production on Brownfields; Unconventional and Hard to Recover Reserves; Full-Field Development on Greenfields in East Siberia, Yamal and Others and HSE. Many more technical papers were also presented as part of the Knowledge Sharing ePoster sessions on the Exhibition floor.

A Plenary Session opened each day of the technical conference, with 16 high level speakers and moderators from a range of Russian and International companies including TyumenNIIgiprogas, TNNC, Lukoil Engineering, Salym Petroleum Development, Schlumberger, Russian State Reserves Committee, TatNIPIneft and Halliburton. Presentations included: ‘Integrated Approach to Hydro-Carbon Fields Development’, ‘Cost-Effective Technologies to Rejuvenate Brownfields, ‘Using Analytical Simulation to Slow Decline in Brownfields’ ,‘International Unconventional Best Practices’ and other.

Puneet Dhamija, Vice President Integrated Operations, Western Hemisphere Operations, Baker Hughes, commented “Events such as SPE Russian Oil & Gas are an incredible platform for sharing experiences, knowledge, technologies and ideas. Having a platform where personnel from all over the world working in their respective geographic and functional silos coming and presenting their ideas, helps in collaboration and exchange of ideas with a wider audience, leading to knowledge transfer and ideas disseminating to areas where such ideas have not be tried before. This collaborative learning platform and exchange of ideas on what has or has not worked in different parts of the world, as well as the networking opportunity between like-minded oil and gas professionals, makes events such as SPE Russian Oil & Gas a “must attend”.

The 2014 SPE Regional Award winners were announced the first day of the event, with 14 individual winners named, along with LUKOIL receiving the Regional Distinguished Corporate Support Award.

Brand new for 2014, the topical Round Tables drew keen interest: the first concerning Emergency Response Management for the High North Projects; and the second on New Russian Classification of Raw Hydrocarbon Reserves. Topical lunches focused on Microseismic Monitoring of Multistage Hydraulic Fracturing and Advanced Stimulation Technologies for Enhanced Unconventional Oil and Gas Recovery.

On the final day the ‘Energy4me Teachers Workshop’ was attended by fourteen middle and secondary school teachers from various regions of Russia. Energy4me is a global SPE initiative to enable science teachers to plan lessons on how oil and gas is produced. The teachers had an opportunity to try things out and conduct practical experiments in small groups. They were delighted to discover the new methodology how to teach students in an educative and entertaining way. At the end of the course all participants got materials in Russian language that can be used in the class with the students.
